Fiducial Marks Are Small, But They Matter

Fiducial marks are easy to overlook because they don't carry signals, connect components, or affect the circuit itself.

Their purpose is different. They provide reference points that help automated assembly equipment accurately align the PCB before placing components.

Without clear fiducial marks, the assembly process may rely on less reliable reference features, especially on boards with fine-pitch packages or high component density.

They're only a few copper pads on the PCB, but they play an important role once the design moves from layout to assembly.
