PCB revisions are often much smaller than they appear. A connector might move a few millimeters, a trace may be rerouted, or a via might be added to improve the layout.

Reviewing two revisions side by side works, but it still requires comparing the entire board visually.

An overlay comparison is often more effective. By displaying both revisions on the same view, every modification becomes immediately visible, making it easier to verify exactly what changed before releasing the Gerber files.

For small PCB revisions, seeing the differences is usually more valuable than seeing two separate layouts.
