Clock Signals Deserve the Cleanest Route
Not every signal on a PCB has the same routing priority.
Clock signals define the timing reference for digital circuits, so their routing deserves extra attention during PCB layout. Long detours, unnecessary vias, noisy switching circuits, and interrupted reference planes can all affect signal quality.
A clean clock route is usually short, direct, and referenced to a continuous ground plane. Good clock routing isn't about making it look neat, preserving timing and reducing unwanted noise.
