A diode is like a one-way valve for electricity.
Imagine a water pipe with a check valve:
💧 Water can easily flow forward, but it is blocked when it tries to flow backward.
The same principle applies to electronic circuits:
⚡ Forward Bias (ON)
When voltage is applied in the correct direction (Anode → Cathode), the diode allows current to flow.
🚫 Reverse Bias (OFF)
When voltage is applied in the opposite direction, the diode blocks current and helps protect the circuit.
This simple characteristic makes diodes one of the most important components in PCB design:
