In cleanrooms, air cleanliness is paramount. One of the biggest lessons I learned is that every pipe, conduit, or cable penetration through a cleanroom wall or ceiling must be sealed airtight. Even small gaps can become pathways for contamination.

Use compression-type seals or silicone gaskets rated for cleanroom environments. Avoid caulking alone as it can crack over time, creating leaks. For wires, use sealed cable glands with proper IP ratings.

Design access for maintenance without compromising the seal. Consider locating valves, filters, and service points outside the cleanroom if possible. If not, use flush-mounted panels with gaskets.

Remember that differential pressure between rooms drives airflow. A minor leak can upset pressure balances, leading to unidirectional flow disruption. Always pressure test penetrations after installation.

This attention to penetration sealing will save you from contamination issues and expensive retrofits later. It's a simple but critical detail that often gets overlooked.
