When you bolt a motor into a tight frame, think about the first time it fails. If you can't get a wrench on the mounting bolts without removing three other assemblies, you've created a future headache. Plan for replacement by ensuring every component that might need service has access paths for tools and clearance for removal.

Use standard fasteners and common sizes. If one part uses M8 bolts and another uses M10, you're forcing the technician to carry extra tools. Worse, mix metric and imperial on the same assembly. Stick to one system, and use the same hex size where possible. This reduces the time spent hunting for the right socket.

Add service loops in wire routing and slack in hoses. Nothing wastes time like cutting zip ties or disconnecting a hydraulic line just to move a wire out of the way. Leave enough extra length to disconnect a component without straining the adjacent connections. If possible, use quick-disconnects or modular connectors.

Finally, document the replacement procedure. Even a simple sketch showing which fasteners to remove first and the order of disassembly can save hours. Put it in a service manual or print it on a label inside the enclosure. Future you, or the person who inherits your machine, will thank you.
