Common tools include the 5 Whys and fishbone diagrams. The 5 Whys drill down from symptom to root cause, while fishbone diagrams categorize potential causes into areas like man, machine, method, and material. Both are practical for shop floor problem-solving.

Implementing RCA consistently reduces scrap, rework, and downtime. It builds a culture of continuous improvement where teams learn from errors. Start with small incidents, document findings, and share lessons across departments. Over time, this data-driven approach elevates overall equipment effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
