Three Times Press Fits Beat Fasteners
Press fits eliminate separate fasteners, simplifying assembly and reducing part count. For high torque or axial load applications on shafts, an interference fit transfers load directly through surface contact, avoiding fastener fatigue and loosening under vibration.
Consider a gear pressed onto a motor shaft. The joint handles reversing loads without a keyway, and assembly is a single press operation. This cuts cycle time and inventory cost in high-volume production, while maintaining precise radial alignment.
Choose press fits when you need robust, low-maintenance joints that rarely require disassembly. They thrive in harsh environments where fasteners would loosen or corrode. Just remember they require tight tolerances and are not field-serviceable.
