Ripple and Noise Are Not the Same Thing
Power ripple and noise are often mentioned together, but they have different characteristics.
Ripple is usually a periodic variation related to switching frequency or rectification. Noise is typically random high-frequency interference caused by EMI, parasitic effects, or switching transients.
Understanding the difference is important because they require different solutions.
