Rendering a complex assembly can feel like watching paint dry. The good news is that you don't need a new workstation to get faster results. These practical adjustments can shave minutes off each frame without sacrificing quality where it matters.

Use level of detail (LOD) or simplified geometry for small, repetitive parts like bolts, washers, and bushings. When these parts are not the focus of the shot, a low-poly stand-in is invisible to the viewer and saves a massive amount of computation. Save the full detail for hero components that are front and center.

Disable ray-traced shadows and reflections for components that are hidden, far away, or behind the main body. Many CAD renderers let you override material and light properties per object. Turn those effects off for anything that doesn't contribute to the final image, and you will see a huge speed boost.

For common parts used dozens of times, use instances or render proxies instead of full copies. Instancing means the software calculates the object once and just reuses the light and camera data, cutting memory and render load. Finally, hide internal components unless you need a cutaway view. The invisible parts still cost time, so remove them from the render set when they aren't visible.
